Your Music Producer Career

Your Music Producer Career - Four words in a certain order...

Your...

"... and I did it my way!" - Frank Sinatra

You want to make sure you retain control over your image, business, time and most importantly, your music. You can own your music producer career or someone else can own it "for you".

In other words...

You either create the career path you walk or you walk the path "the Industry" lays out for you.

Yes, you'll find many so-called experts and companies who will offer you the world in exchange for control over your music, image and large chunks of your present and future income.

You have the talent, you learn the skills, you conceive and create the music. You create the value. You should enjoy the fruits of your labor.

You want to structure your business, financial and legal affairs so "all roads lead to Rome", with Rome in this case being you.

Music...

"Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without" - Confucius

Music is what it's all about.

Your music producer career won't last long unless you do it for the sake of your music.

You cannot fake good music and you can not replace the energy and determination you have when you dedicate yourself to the creation of music for the sake of music.

Bad music will not spread through the network and cannot be marketed on the network. So...

Make Good Music!

You want to make time on a regular basis to sharpen your music appreciation, performance and production skills. You cannot create good music any other way.

Producer...

"If you wish to be a writer, write." - Epictetus

Yes, you are only a producer when you produce.

You could also see a producer as a creator. You could see a producer as someone who makes recorded music happen.

The quality of your music productions improve as the quantity of your productions increase. In other words...

... the more you make music the better you get. So...

... make more music to make better music! ;-)

Career...

"Job security is gone. The driving force of a career must come from the individual." - Homa Bahrami

You can flourish or fail in these uncertain times. Your music producer career is a work of art only you can create.

Labels, managers and publishers won't do it for you. The record deal won't do it for you. The system of the old "Music Industry" disintegrates and morphs as you read this.

"The Industry" is an illusion.

The reality is...

You either fit your music producer career into the business structures others create or you strive to create your own music business structures.

You have something of value to offer and you no longer need to go through the gatekeepers of the labels to reach people with your music.

You can use the Internet to leverage your business income and music activities so you have all the tools you need to create your music producer career you want.

Create a vision of a the independent music artist and producer you want to be and use your energy, time, money and other resources to manifest your vision.

What others have to say...

"Thank you for your help with our web strategy and social media presence. The integrated setup of the web site and our social profiles you helped us establish makes life so much easier. The buzz so far has been great and just keeps growing!" - Gareth, The Commercial Hippies / Nano Records thecommercialhippies.com

"As the owner of a music studio, I have found this site to be extremely beneficial to musicians at any stage of development. Way to go, Marius!" - Lynne, may-studio-music-lessons.com

"Marius has a very informative site on how to be a self-managing musician, and he takes the time to get back to you if you've got questions. He's a cool guy!" - Nate Maingard, Musician twitter.com/NateMaingard

"It refreshing in so many ways to find something that's the truth and not just some "sign here pay this and tomorrow you're famous" website!! Marius has lent direction in gray areas for The Brokekings and certainly its been the most honest approach in getting our brand from our hard-drive to our tribe's ears." - Cliff Barns, The Brokekings http://thebrokekings.bandcamp.com

"Yes, your site is great. I devoured all of it, watched all the Vids because you cover all the important current marketing strategies a band/artist should be doing. I totally agree with your angle on things, especially the way the old music biz paradigm is crumbling away and there are new ways for all of us Artists to empower ourselves." Paul Abrahams, The Reels
